Oscar A. Hoag, pioneer of the Lake Chelan country, age 73 years died this morning at his home in Chelan at 5 o'clock following a three month's sick spell. Mr. Hoag had not enjoyed good health for a number of years.
Oscar A. Hoag was born in Allamakee Co., Iowa, October 3, 1856, the son of A. W. Celestine (Dye) Hoag, Hoag, natives of New York. The father came from an old influential Quaker family, which is and has been very prominent politically and commercially.
Mr. Hoag was well educated in Iowa and Missouri, spending 11 years in the former state and 23 years in the latter. His vocation was that of the agriculturist and in 1891 he became interested in the western country.
On January 2, 1879, Mr. Hoag married Miss Addie F., daughter of William H. and Amy A. Hoag. To Mr. and Mrs. Hoag three children have been born, Otto T. Hoag, Mrs. Edna A Dart and Mrs. Bert Fowler, all residing in Chelan Valley.
