Willie was the son of Macy Sneed and Florine "Rena" Walker Sneed Arnold. He was educated in the Peach County School System. He attended Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia where he was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
He was married to Cynthia Sneed.
