Merringer – Ruth V., 88, Central City, died April 4, 2009, at home. Born Aug. 9, 1920, the daughter of Ira and Lottie (Cook) Ankeny. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John; and these brothers and sisters: Corrine, Vera, Twila, Ivan, Harold and Ira. Survived by children, Terry Paul; Calvin Jay; and Connie Lynn, wife of Richard A. Russell, all of Central City; granddaughter, Audrey Lynn, Virginia; sister, Jean, wife of Carl Larson, Cairnbrook; and brother, Jay, and his wife, Peggy, Somerset. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Windber Hospice staff, Somerset County Area Agency on Aging, Shirley Gall, Peggy Miller and Debbie Dneaster. Ruth was an active lifelong member of Central City United Methodist Church. She loved sewing, cooking and gardening. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Tuesday service at Central City United Methodist Church, Pastor Randy Newell officiating. Interment, IOOF Cemetery, Stoystown.
