On October 31, 1942, during a daytime raid, Sgt Edwards took off from Finningley as part of a Bullseye exercise operation. Unfortunately, the Vickers Wellington III, serial number BK234, collided with a 256 Squadron Beaufighter over Wales, resulting in both aircraft crashing near Bangor.


Also onboard were Sgt S.G Cook, Sgt J.D Forsyth, Sft T.M.G Gray and Flt Officer D.R Harding.
