"Jewell E. 'Jack [sic]' Ratliff, 71, northeast Kansas City, died Feb. 20, 1994, at Veterans Hospital. The body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Mr. Ratliff was born in Ethel, Mo., and moved to this area in 1951. He was a maintenance worker for commercial laundries before he retired. He was a member of the Independence Avenue Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Kum Oak Ratliff of Independence; a daughter, Norma J. Hermocillo of American Canyon, Calif.; two sons, Jack L. Ratliff and Jeffrey K. Ratliff, both of Kansas City; two sisters, Kathleen G. Loethen of Topeka and Martha Douglas of St Joseph; two brothers, Milo Ratliff of St Joseph and Charles F. Ratliff of Bevier, Mo.; and three grandchildren." The Kansas City Star, February 22, 1994
