PORTLAND – Dora Lou Pakulski died on Sept. 8, 2022, in Portland, Maine. She was born in Landisburg, West Virginia, on Sept. 19, 1927, to her parents, Dave and Kittie Campbell.

She graduated from Nuttall High School, Lookout, West Virginia, in 1944, valedictorian of her class. In 1948, she graduated from Berea College in Kentucky earning a double major in zoology and chemistry. She worked in several laboratories prior to her marriage to Fran Pakulski in July 1954 in the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Fran and Dora Lou moved to Livermore Falls, Maine where they lived for the next eleven years before moving to their Canton Mountain home in Jay in 1965 and raising their five children. She resided there until May 2015 when she moved to Portland.

Her love for math, the biological and physical sciences, art, music, and theater greatly influenced the careers and interests of her children. She had a myriad of interests, but her family was the center of her life.

Her husband, Fran, predeceased her in 2005.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.

The family requests no flowers and no contributions. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery,
