Bertha L. Abrahamson, 99, of East Ninth Street died Thursday, June 1, 2000.

She was called from her earthly labor to her heavenly reward while a resident at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 3, 1901, to Andrew and Mamie Lewis in Chattanooga, Tenn. Bertha married Mr. Edwin Abrahamson on Oct. 3, 1942, and the couple moved to Duluth. She confessed hope in Christ and was united with Calvary Baptist Church in 1967. Bertha was baptized by Pastor Charles Sanford Jones Sr. and was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church from 1971 to 1991. She was a member of the Senior Choir at Calvary Baptist Church, and her favorite song to sing was "Jesus, He Brought Me All the Way." Bertha continued to be a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church until her illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1991.

She leaves to mourn her passing a dear niece, a brother-in-law, and a host of friends, including Howard Taylor and his wife, Debbie, who have faithfully cared for Bertha, her home and personal affairs since 1950. Howard loved Bertha as a mother and she loved him as a son.
