John R. Davel, 92, of Tomah died at Liberty Village on Thursday January 14th. He was born January 9, 1929 to Vernal and Margery (Perring) Davel in the Milwaukee area. He was a graduate of Custer High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and was in active duty in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. On May 9, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Prom. Marjorie preceded John in death on March 24, 2015. John worked for General Telephone for 32 years, until his retirement. In his retirement he farmed in Marshall WI. John had his pilot's license and owned small aircraft as a hobby, along with taking up beekeeping. He had good sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh at his jokes. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by 2 sons, Doug (Sharon) Davel and Jim Davel, 3 daughters, Jill (Jim) Teisberg, Judy Isaac, and Linda Davel, and 3 brothers-in-law /sisters-in-law; Robert (Marie) Prom, Fred (Judy) Prom, Alan (Joanne) Prom, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Elaine, brother-in-law, Harold Prom and a sister-in-law Joan Roob.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, 12 Noon at the Queen of the Apostle's Parrish at the St. Mary's, 303 W Monroe St. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors by the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201.
