Carol Hanssen age 78, died Sunday, September 11, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from complications of heart surgery surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 Saturday morning, September 17, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and daughter, her first husband, Robert, a son-in-law, Andrew Jones, her siblings, Roger Zumbach and Doris Anderson.
Carol Kay Zumbach was born July 14, 1944 at Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Viola Paulsen, Zumbach.
Carol graduated from the Coggon High School in 1962.
She then went to work at Collins Radio.
Carol married Robert Hanssen on November 8, 1964 at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan.
The couple farmed near Scotch Grove.
Carol worked at the Dime Store in Monticello, Monty Paint and Paper. She retired from St. John's Day Care in 2010.
Carol married ___(Pete) Ponder on October 28, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church.
The couple lived in Monticello during the summer and Arizona in the winter.
