Drannon Ray Moore, 92, of New London, Texas, departed this life on Thursday, January 31, 2008 in his hometown.

He was born January 23, 1916 in Flomont to Llewellyn Mayfield and Mary Elizabeth (Clary) Moore. He graduated from Wellington (Texas) High School with the Class of 1934. He worked for Gaudet Lumber Company. He retired in 1991 as a self employed Contractor. He had worked with the bus ministry at the First Baptist Church in New London and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Overton. He loved baseball, and gardening. His family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Drannon was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Iona (Chandler) Moore, whom he married in Arizona on October 26, 1942 and who departed this life on October 28, 2007; a son, Harrison Leon (and his wife, Jean) Moore; a granddaughter, Toni College Moore; his parents; and his siblings, Allie Mae Monroe, Lee Marvin Moore and Carl Harrison Moore.

He was survived by his two remaining children: Carolyn Sue (Moore) Walters (and her husband, Jerome) and Danny Ray Moore, both of New London; his seven remaining grandchildren: Janice Angelico, Daniel Moore, Shannon Walters, Robert Moore Toy, Sharon Stuart, Donna Cline and Angela Vega; his sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Cottle Pearson Funeral Home chapel, with the Reverend Johnny Wright and Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating. Burial was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in New London. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home of Overton. Pallbearers were Daniel Moore, Shannon Walters, Robert Moore, Richard Moore, Christopher Moore and Ryan Cline.
