Patricia (Pat) Ann Newcomb Edmonson (Higgins), 84, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2022 in Louisville, KY with family by her side. A native Louisvillian, Pat was born August 11, 1937, to the late Robert & Genevieve (Dant) Higgins. Pat was a graduate of Mercy Academy, class of 1955, remaining forever grateful for her Catholic education. Pat started selling real estate, a career she always enjoyed, in Louisville in the early 1970's, when only a handful of women were in the field. Pat was president of her condo association until December 31st when she decided it was time to retire after a cancer diagnosis this past fall. Pat had an inquisitive mind that took her from the East to the West spiritually and medically. You could find Pat chanting with the Tibetan monks, studying A Course in Miracles and praying the rosary all in the same day. Pat had a youthful energy, was understanding, wise and most importantly, kind. Even though Pat had one child, she was a second mother to many. Her home was always open, and she was willing to listen, support and offer encouragement when needed. Her love and friendship will be missed. Pat was a proud member of AA for the last 36 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Newcomb (Tony Moir); and her sisters, Sheila Price, Betty Bell, Kathy Riggs and Maureen Giffin; and her brother, Bob Higgins. Also surviving are her many nieces and nephews and her special friend, Dale Rose, and his family. A celebration of Pat's life will take place at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mercy Academy, 5801 Fegenbush Lane, Louisville, KY 40228 to the Patricia Higgins Memorial Scholarship Fund.
