Harold J. Allen, 77, 603 East North, died Sunday evening, May 1, at 11:36 p.m. in the Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus where he had been in failing health the past month.

Mr. Allen retired in 1969 from the Greensburg post office after 45 years of service.

He was born June 11, 1905, in Greensburg post office after 45 years of service.

He was born June 11, 1905, in Greensburg, the son of John and Maude Beeson Allen. He was married to Ruby Vail June 30, 1927, and she survives, with one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Mattijean) Zapfe, R.R.1, Greensburg; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Creath Allen, Greensburg and Mrs. George Platt, Winchester.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Walter (Violet) Parker and two brothers: Ray and Creath Thomas Allen.

He was a 50-year member of the Eagles Lodge, a member of the Red Man and a member of the United Federation of Postal Clerks.

The services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Browning officiating, and with burial in the South Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
