Hubert Elroy Kreps, a veteran of World War II, passed away on September 19, 2022 in Lakeland, Florida at the age of 101. Hubert was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 4, 1921 to Earl Francis Kreps and Ada Mae Carney. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the European theatre of Operations as Boatswain's Mate, First Class during World War II. After the war, Hubert returned home where he met and married the love of his life, Eileen Elizabeth Kehrer, on May 10, 1947. Together they had two children and were married for 71 years. They retired to Florida and were active members of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland. Hubert was an avid fisherman and could tell "fish tales" with the best of them. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen, his son Michael, his parents, and two brothers, Earl and Cleo. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Bishop and husband James, grandson Matthew Bishop and wife Ashli and her son Tyler Bradford, granddaughter Lisa Harvey and husband Stephen, great-grandson Brendan Bishop, great-granddaughter Jenna Bishop, sister Janice Springer, nephew Kevin Springer and wife Cindy and their son Travis, and nephew Jim Springer and wife Laura.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 12 Noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. to 11:50 A.M. in the church prior to the service. Interment with Military honors will follow at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or charity of your choice.
