Graveside services for Sally Jane Bennett of Norman are scheduled for Tuesday, September 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel. Father John Norvell will officiate.

Mrs. Bennett passed away on the 24th day of September 2022. She was 86 years old.

Sally was born Mayoma Marie Williams on January 8, 1936, in Tulsa, OK, graduating from Antlers High School in 1953. Sally received both BA and M. ED from East Central University and later did post graduate work at East Central and Oklahoma State University. She was a teacher and social worker. She was of the Episcopal faith.

In 1955, she married Bob E. Bennett who was a practicing attorney in Ada for 50 years. He died in 2010. The two were married 55 ½ years. She lived in Ada for 58 years before moving to Norman. Sally has called Ada her hometown and always considered its people to be among the finest.

For many years, she served on the board of the Oklahoma Arts Institution and as a member of the selection committee of Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. She also served as a regional representative of the Oklahoma Cultural Commission and as a board member of the Ada Arts Council.

Sally leaves behind many nieces and nephews all of whom she loves and respects. Among those are The Rev. Frankie Giles, Jana Westcamp, Bill Westcamp, Dana Beam, Chris Beam, Mark Beam, Harold Gordon, Jennie Gordon, Barbara Cummins, Donna Klick, Phyllis O'Donley and Richard O'Donley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bob E Bennett Fine Arts Scholarship, ECU Foundation, c/o ECU, 1100 E14, Box PMB Y-8, Ada, OK 74820 or the Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Road, Ada, OK 74820.
