SULPHUR -- Services for Sood Kirby, 85, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cowley-Krien Chapel with the Rev. Jack Eldred and the Rev. Butch Fires officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Kirby was born July 26, 1915, at Malcoff, Texas, to John W. and Carrie E. Hilliard Kirby. He died March 29, 2001, in a Sulphur health care facility.

He moved to Mill Creek in 1921, to Drake in 1935 and to the Sulphur area in 1939. He and Lena Mozzel Browning were married Dec. 24, 1931, in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1994.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Lou Kirby and Berva Dawn Wilson; four sisters, two brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is survived by three sons, Joe W., Ventura, Calif., David and Jack, Sulphur; seven daughters, Sue Grantham, Stratford, Margaret Dickey, Oklahoma City, Sharon Garrison, Mill Creek, Jana Eldred, Norman, Reta Fires, Retha Cravatt and Karen White, Sulphur; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; five stepgrandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be George Grantham, Lee and Sood Cravatt, Luke White, Charles and David Wilson, Ty and Timmy Warden, Tony Daniels, Jason Fires and Jakey Elred. Honorary bearers are Kenneth Dilbeck and Junior Kirby.
