Born January 13, 1949 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Marian (Daugherty) Burkett of Greencastle and the late Robert Burkett. He married his wife Deanna L. (Branch) Burkett on July 25, 1969.
Dennis worked as a welder at Grove Worldwide (now Manitowoc Crane) in Shady Grove for 16 years and last worked at Jerr-Dan in Greencastle for over 20 years.
Dennis was a former member of the Greencastle VFW and American Legion and the Greencastle Sportsman Association.
He was a 1967 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. His hobbies and interests included, hunting, fishing, golfing and playing softball. He was an avid NASCAR and Steelers fan.
Surviving family in addition to his mother and wife are one son Dennis "Jake" Burkett Jr. of Greencastle, one granddaughter, Alexis Burkett of South Carolina and one brother Greg Burkett.
There will be no visitation or services. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home in Greencastle.
