Pittston friends were notified by telegram yesterday of the sudden death of A. L. Towner, a former resident of Race street. Mr. Towner, who had had serious heart trouble, dropped dead on his way to his work yesterday morning. Years ago he kept a shoe store in Pittston. Since leaving there about seven years ago the family resided in Norwood, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia, and their son, Paul, who is employed by a brokerage firm in Philadelphia, lived in the same neighborhood. Mr. Towner of late had been agent for a novelty manufacturing company. He leaves his wife and two sons, Bert of New Jersey, and Paul, also his mother, who is over ninety years of age, and who lived with her son. Mr. Towner was born at Rummerfield, and was a brother of the late D. B. Towner, who was a noted singer with the Moody evangelistic party.
