Barbara "Gail" Carignan, 85, died on September 27, 2022, at Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Yarmouth, Maine after suffering a long illness.

The daughter of Cleo Phinney Clark and Ralph J Clark she was born on October 8, 1936, in Monmouth. She would like to be fondly remembered for her loving hugs.

She was a 1954 Graduate of Mechanic Falls High School of Maine, a 1960 Graduate of Gorham State Teachers College with an associate degree in education, and a 1978 Graduate vocation Region #10, Brunswick with a Certificate of Certified Nurses Aid.

From 1955-1956 she worked for the Department of Agriculture in Augusta as a Stenographer, from 1964-1976 she was a Kindergarten /First Grade Teacher, in Yarmouth Maine.

From 1978-1988 she was a CNA, Ward Secretary at Freeport Nursing Home, and then an Administrative Assistant at Freeport Childcare Services. She served as Activities Director for the Hawthorne House and then for the Freeport Nursing Home. She was also the Election Clerk for the Town of Durham from 2002-2015.

She enjoyed gardening, rock collecting, crafting, painting, and photography. Some of her photos have been on display in Freeport and Durham, and some are being published. She was a member of the Oakleaf Club and Freeport Elders Association since 1995. She was also a member of the First Parish, UCC of Freeport.

She was predeceased by her Parents, Daughter Deborah Lewis, Granddaughter Tiffany Moyen, Stepson Peter Carignan, Stepdaughter Melissa Carignan, her beloved black poodle Sully and her beloved golden retriever Sunny
