Steven "Steve" Hal Mathews, 65, of Paden City, WV, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 6, 1957, in Charleston, WV, a son to the late Earl Mathews and Hildegard Gershau Mathews.
Steve's family meant everything to him. He especially loved being a PopPop to his beloved grandsons. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and car enthusiast too. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School and retired earlier this year from Westlake Chemical (PPG) after 45 years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kimela Snider Mathews; sons, Tim (Maranda) Mathews of Belmont, WV and Josh Mathews of Paden City, WV; daughter, Jessica (Sean Barnhart) Mathews of Waverly, WV; brother, Mike Mathews; sister, Teresa Morris; grandchildren, Javin Barnhart and Maddox Mathews; father-in-law, Guy Snider; brothers-in-law, Bryan (Carol) Snider, Brent (Cindy) Snider and Scott (Shari) Snider; sister-in-law, Julie (Jon) Snider and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Mathews and granddaughter, Letty Barnhart.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Myers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
