OBITUARY: Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Laverne Dempsey were held Monday, March 25, 1968 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cordell with Rev. Walter Williams and Rev. J.W. Jeffcoat, officiating.

Bertha Laverne Dempsey, daughter of H.P. and Mattie Pate, was born at Gotebo, Oklahoma on July 19, 1927 and died at Cordell Memorial Hospital on March 22, 1968

At Mtn. View, on August 16, 1943, she was married to Tomie Joe Dempsey and to this union three daughters were born. An infant daughter, Clara Jean, preceded her in death.

Among her survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Pate of Cordell; two daughters, Mrs. Freda Akerson, Chillicothe, Missouri, and Mrs. Joyce Sewell, Cordell; one granddaughter Tonis Lynn Akerson; three brothers Calvin Pate, San Jose, California; William Pate, Phoenix, Arizona and Louis Pate of Lindsay; and one sister, Mrs. Cathern Matladge, Cordell.

Pallbearers were Herman Fields, Dean Ford, Dean Beaver, Walter Hines, Harley Holman and J.I. Martin.
