The funeral service celebrating the life of Gloria Nokes of Bertha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, at the New Life Church of God in Bertha, with Pastor Gerold Goetz presiding. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha and will resume at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. (* Gloria's funeral service is be held at the New Life Church of God in Bertha to accommodate the anticipated number of guests.)

Gloria, age 74, passed away with family at her side and support from Knute Nelson, on September 12, 2022, at her home in Bertha, MN.

Gloria Jean Nokes was born on November 2, 1947 to Ellsworth and Bernita Jasmer in Bertha MN. Gloria was confirmed at the Bartlett church in Bertha in 1961. She attended country schools, and later graduated from the Staples High School in 1965.

After graduation, Gloria moved to Minneapolis, MN where she met her first husband Wayne Van Heel. They moved to South Dakota where they had 5 children before moving back to Hewitt, MN and added 2 more children. They were divorced in 1994, Gloria then reconnected with a childhood friend William "Bill" Nokes and they married on December 27, 1997.

Gloria started working for the Staples school district in 1978 as the high school librarian. She then transitioned into the business office where she ended up retiring after 30+ years with the Staples Motley School District. During these years Gloria also held a variety of part time jobs and went to night school to obtain her AA degree in accounting.

After Gloria's retirement she enjoyed being on various boards and committees such as the 1965 high school class reunion, Jasmer Family reunion, town and township boards, Parks and Trails, Ladies Aid, voter registrations.

Gloria always enjoyed gatherings whether it was her small group of friends on Saturday mornings or her supper group on Thursday nights. Having huge family gatherings and cooking enough to feed an army, or just a small get together with her individual children and their families. Gloria's greatest passion was to talk about her faith in Jesus and to ensure her whole family knows the Lord.

Preceding Gloria in death were her parents Ellsworth and Bernita, granddaughter Adrian Dahl, nephew Mark Olson, and Mother-in-laws Martha Nokes and Mabel Van Heel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gloria's grandchildren and serving as pallbearers will be her nephews and nieces.
Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Hewitt, MN.
