Capt. Walter Wayne Goss, Jr. USAF Ret., age 71, was a resident of Montgomery, Ala. since 1987 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 pm at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Wayne Goss, Sr. and Kathryn Brown Aldy Goss. He graduated from Kosciusko High School and Holmes Junior College in Mississippi. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1972. After eight years of serving as a non-commissioned officer, he applied and was accepted into the Air Force Officer Training Program. He retired after 21 years of service. He later went on to work for the State of Alabama in the Department of Industrial Relations and with the Alabama Securities Commission.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Retta Hunt Goss, daughter, Kathryn Diane Adams, and her husband William Thomas Adams in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and son, Noel Wayne Goss in Montgomery, Ala. He has one sister, Annelle McGee (Billy) in Brandon, Miss. and one brother, Billy Goss in Houston, Tex. He has two much loved granddaughters, Anna Kathryn and Madison Lindsey Adams. He was affectionately known by them as "Big Daddy " and "Buddy". He attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he taught a Senior Adult Sunday School Class for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church at 5260 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36116 or Baptist Hospice, Baptist Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 241647, Montgomery, AL 36124.
