He was a carpenter by trade. He married Emma Mary Sanderson (also known as Emily), daughter of Ollie (Mattison) and Jay Sanderson. Stanley and Emily had two sons Stanley, Jr. and Robert. When Stanley, Sr. became blind he started Dawson's Auto Parts business in Warsaw, New York. His wife Emily helped to run their family business together with their sons. The business moto was "Don't Fuss - Call Us"

Stanley Dawson, Sr. of 520 South Main Street, Warsaw died suddenly in his home on Saturday August 16. He was born on 6/14/1889, the son of Reuben H. and Lydia Jones Dawson. His wife, Emily Sanderson Dawson, children, Stanley and Robert and 2 grandchildren survive him. A sister, Mrs. Harry H. Curtis survives him also. The funeral was held at the Weeks Funeral Home last Tuesday and the Rev. E.T. rowe officiated. Mr. Dawson was a member of the Warsaw Methodist Church and the Warsaw Lodge. He had resided in Warsaw for 15 years.
