Lawrence Grady Joe Grimes, 75, of Winfield, died June 25, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Highway Baptist Church of Winfield and served in the Navy during World War II. He was also retired from Highland Telephone Cooperative. He is survived by his wife, Geneda Watters Grimes of Winfield; one daughter, Gale Grimes of Cookeville; one son, Jim Grimes and wife, Ginger of Charlotte, N.C.; two step sons, Steve Watters and wife, LaDonna of Andersonville, Tenn., and Larry Watters and wife, Kristi of Oneida; two sisters, Nettie Ford and Lousie Wilson, both of Cookeville; one brother, Henry Grimes of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service was conducted June 27, 1999, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Hertis Phillips and Pastor Lonnie Smith officiating.
