Phyllis Lucille (Adams) Bruggeman was born October 29, 1913, at Webster City in Hamilton County, Iowa to the late Albert and Rosa (Albright) Adams. Her family moved to Mitchell County in 1915. Phyllis was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville. On September 19, 1934, she was united in marriage to August Samuel Bruggeman of rural St. Ansgar. They farmed until May of 1973, when they retired and purchased a home in St. Ansgar. On September 19, 1984 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Phyllis enjoyed living on the farm where she raised over 500 laying hens. She also loved to cook and bake and will be long remembered for her fresh baked goodies whenever her family and friends stopped in to visit.
Phyllis became a resident at the Good Samaritan Care Center, St. Ansgar in April of 2002 and really enjoyed and appreciated the loving care she received.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends who will cherish the memories shared.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August Samuel Bruggeman. Two sons, Albert William Bruggeman, Jr.; and Larry Eugene Bruggeman. One grandson, John Dean Bruggeman, and two great-grandsons, Samuel Joseph Bruggeman and Adam Joseph Bruggeman.
Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Audrey (Eugene) Myhre, rural St. Ansgar. Two special nieces, Maxine Bruggeman and Alvina Bruggeman both of St. Ansgar. Grandchildren Kevin (Arlene) Myhre, rural St. Ansgar, Pam Perkins, Northwood; Jim Bruggeman, Clear Lake; Robin (Doug) Bless, Toeterville; Mike Bruggeman and special friend Michelle, rural St. Ansgar; Steve (Kim) Bruggeman, Rose Creek, MN; and 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters-in-law Karen Koethke, rural St. Ansgar; and Charlene Bruggeman, St. Ansgar along with great-nieces and nephews.
