Obituary of Christopher Columbus Cornwell. 3 and 6 July 1961, Emporia (KS) Gazette.

Americus--Christopher C. Cornwell died Sunday morning in Newman Memorial County Hospital in Emporia.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by the Rev. O. E. Howell, pastor of the Free Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Bushong Cemetery.

Christopher C. Cornwell, the son of Christopher and Amanda Cornwell, was born March 30th, 1864, in Terre Haute, Ind. He was a member of the Quaker Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Will, Steve and Wheeler and by three sisters, Carolyn, Katherine and Jane, and is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Virgil Henderson, Allen; Mrs. Ila Dunn, Syracuse, and Mrs. E. J. Haworth; and by four nephews, Carl Cornwell, Ellsworth, Raymond Cornwell, Kansas City, and Manley and Royal Cornwell, Woodland, Calif.

Funeral services for Christopher C. Cornwell, Americus, who died Sunday morning in Newman Memorial County Hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by the Rev. O. E. Howell, pastor of the Americus Methodist Church, Trevor Lewis sang, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Plummer. Pall-bearers were Joe and Bobby Novak, Wheeler, Thomas E. and Leroy E. Cornwell and Merle Gravatt. Burial was in the Bushong Cemetery. Relatives who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Cornwell and Carl Cornwell, Ellsworth; Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Raworth, Americus; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Henderson, Allen; Sharon Gravatt, Haysvillle; Raymond, Villa and Nma M. Cornwell, Turner; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Novak and Bob Novak, Wichita; Mrs. C. F. Litsey, Valley Center, and Mrs. Richard Pyles, Topeka.
