Richard Melvin Moore, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Decatur, IL.
Richard was born to Melvin and Eva Moore on September 22, 1932 in Blencoe, IA. He was a US Army veteran. He married Sally Ruth Mosby on February 20, 1959 in Macon County in Macon, IL. Richard worked for Caterpillar as a Quality Assurance Planner for many years. When he retired, he became a master carpenter. He volunteered for the park district building playgrounds. He taught and mentored young carpenters, so they could learn the trade. He is greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his wife, children, Richard "Wally" Wallace (Patricia) Moore, Beverly (Heath) Crossland, siblings, Thomas Moore, Pauline Tooley; grandchildren, Adam Blachard, Eric (Pamela) Blanchard, Amanda (Quinlan) Syfert, Hailey (Ty) Gehrken; great grandchildren Reese, Lennox, Cohen, and one on the way, and many extended family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
There will be a private family service. Richard will be entombed at Graceland Cemetery.
