Garry Roe "Gabe" Pennell, age 84, of Purdy, MO passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at his home.

He was born June 24, 1938 at Pleasant Ridge, MO the son of George and Lucy {Morlan} Pennell, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one son, Aaron Pennell; one brother, George Pennell and one sister, Lois Moomaw.

Surviving are one daughter, Abby Pennell and her husband Jason Pelc of Kansas City, MO; his twin brother, Dewey Pennell and his wife Marinell of Queen Creek, AZ and one grandson, Nicholas Pennell Pelc.

Gabe graduated from Verona High School in Verona, MO and later attended Southern Missouri State University in Springfield, MO attaining a Masters in Education. After graduating college he joined the Army National Guard. He began his teaching career at Sarcoxie working his way up to principal over several schools in the area including Wheaton, Verona, Southwest, Cassville and Pierce City from where he retired. Gabe was a cowboy poet, loved horses, rodeos, coon and elk hunting but most of all he loved his grandson. He was a member of Gunter Methodist Church.

Services were held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Gunter Methodist Church in Butterfield. Reverend Jerry Nickle conducted the services.

Contributions may be made to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund in memory of Gabe.
