He enlisted during Vietnam and retired from the Army after 29 years of service as a CW4. Mr. Benson also served his country during Grenada and the Gulf War. He was a volunteer firefighter in Clayton, NC and he enjoyed fishing and all sports. Carl was a NC State Football fan as well as the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years and four children. He also has seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, one nephew and his children and numerous well loved cousins.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
