Marion Douglas Freeman was born on May 18, 1917 in Cottontown, Sumner County, Tennessee, the son of James Henry Freeman (1889–1964) and his 1st wife Nellie Lee (Young) Freeman (1894–1947).
Living in Cottontown, he was almost 3 years old when he died of a combination of whooping cough and bronchopneumonia on May 1, 1920. Burial was in Gallatin Cemetery the next day.
