Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Perry D. Ash and Helen T. (Batman) Ash.
James was a graduate of Pottstown High School class of 1950. He was employed as a draftsman with the former Sanders & Thomas for 47 1/2 years the longest employee of the company. James was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of the church bowling league. He was a member of AARP Chapter 2232, and a former member of the Pottstown Elks Lodge #814.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Carol L. wife of Jerry R. Fitzgerald, Pottstown; one son, James T. Ash and his wife Michele, Spring City;four grandchildren, Jacob, Jarett, Christen and Amanda. Ten great grandchildren, Payton, Logan, Dylan, Amelia, Zachery, Luke, Jocelyn, Kara Jane, Nolan and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. Stork. James was a devoted father and grandfather.
Burial in Highland Memorial Park.
