George Washington Brown was born 28 Dec 1845 in Perry Co., OH. (DOB calculated from age at death listed on death record: 32y, 10m, 21d.)

He married Elisabeth Scott Moore on 22 Dec 1868 in Perry Co., OH. They had at least four children, all born in Bearfield Twp., Perry Co., OH:

- John James Brown (1870-1934)
- Sarah Eva Brown (1871-bef 1900)
- William Preston Brown (1873-1943)
- Lydia Lou Brown Ihinger (1877-1927)

George died 18 Nov 1878 from remitting fever. Elisabeth never remarried, and raised all four children on her own.

At this time, I have not found any definitive documentation of George's parents. I have ruled out the following:
1) William & Amanda (Vickroy) Brown. They did have a son named George, but he was killed in the Civil War, and William filed for a father's pension after his death.
2) James and Maria (Dill) Brown. They had a son named George with the middle initial "K".
3) David and Jane (Russell) Brown. Did not have a son named George as far as I can tell.
4) William L. and Susannah (Sowers) Brown. Their son, George, married Caroline Pemberton and died in Muskingum Co., OH in 1912.
5) Archibald and Catharine Brown. Their son, George, died in 1915 in IA.

One possible set of parents is Nathan and Eliza (Thompson) Brown. They lived in Morgan Co., OH until at least 1870, and moved to Vernon Co., WI by 1880. By 1885 they were living in Anderson Co., KS, which is where they died. They had a son named George who was born about 1845, and I haven't been able to track him past 1860 with the family.

George was probably buried in Bearfield Twp. - most likely in Iliff Cemetery (many of the Browns and Moores are buried there) or Pleasant Grove/Tatman Cemetery, which is where Elisabeth's parents are buried.
