Mrs. Amanda Middleton was born in Ohio, April 21, 1842. Her childhood was spent in western Pennsylvania. She afterwards moved to Knox County with her mother, brothers and sister and was afterwards married to D. F. Middleton May 31, 1877, and lived happily with him in the same neighborhood until her death. She was an earnest and devoted Christian and "adorned the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things." During the last period of her life she suffered with patient resignation from a painful malady. She died Aug. 17, 1897, and was buried on the following day in the Mount Carmel cemetery, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. T. H. Tatlow.
