Emma Myhre was born in Rugby, North Dakota on April 21, 1920, to Frank and Barbara Hagel on their family wheat farm. She was one of twelve children and always spoke fondly of the days she spent working alongside her siblings. Her mother was a trained musician/singer and encouraged all of them to sing while they did the dishes and their daily chores. She left the farm as a young woman to pursue a career in nursing at St. Josephs's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. After obtaining her RN, Emma moved to Seattle, WA, and began working at Seattle General Hospital where she met her husband Philip through a mutual friend. Shortly after they met Phil took a job in Cebu City, Philippines, and the couple was forced to grow their relationship long distance. Fortunately, the distance made their hearts grow fonder and they were married on October 31, 1953, in Cebu City. Emma gave birth to two sons, Gregory and Brian, while in the Philippines and rounded out their family with their third son Roger, after moving back to the states. In 1965 Phil took another position in Asia and the family packed their bags and headed to Singapore. Emma loved their time overseas and cherished all their adventures and memories made.

Emma was a petite woman with ample energy and a heart to serve. She never met a table she couldn't dress or a group of people she couldn't feed. She walked through life with grace, a meticulous appearance, a healthy respect for the rules, and always with enough humor and wit to keep her boys and her grandchildren on their toes. As a child of the great depression, Emma was ever-resourceful and never wasteful. She loved tending to her beautiful flowers, while always properly protected from the sun with large floppy hats and long sleeves, and spending time at their family cabin on the Hood Canal. She had beautiful round blue eyes that lit up when she was around her family.

Emma will be greatly missed by all that knew her, but we know she is now happy with the Lord. Emma is survived by her husband, Philip of 67 years of Bremerton, Washington. Son, Gregory (Debbie) Myhre of Anchorage Alaska. Son, Brian (Sue) Myhre of Bremerton Washington. Son, Roger Myhre of Seabeck Washington. Seven grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. She is also survived by her sisters Marie Axtman of Rugby ND and Emerine Bichler of Reno, NV.
