Donald Lee Alexander, 68, surrounded by his family, passed away Sunday evening, July 16, 2006, from complications of diabetes.
He is survived by his loving bride, Jean, of 42 years; five children and their families, Don II (Durlyn), Melissa (Roger), Kelly Jean (Brian), Justina, and James (Dawna); and four grandchildren, Grady, Nathan, Destiny, and Jack.
Don, the second of three sons born to Edwin and Ada Alexander, was born in Everett. He served 30 years in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Hospital Corpsman, and spent much of his life traveling. His favorite places being Key West, Florida, Hawaii, and Midway Island. Upon his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Don went back to school to earn a degree in Computer Technology. After college, Don had a second, successful career with the City of Everett.
Computers were Don's favorite hobby; second only to his family, especially his grandchildren. "Papa" always made time for the kids, whether it was putting puzzles together, telling stories, or just singing because he was happy.
Don especially enjoyed family gatherings at his home in Everett; traveling to Reno, Nevada, with his Bride; feeding the seagulls at Pacific Beach; watching any type of sports; and spending time with his five children and their families. All who knew him loved him very much, and he will be truly missed.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Everett. A special Thank You to the staff at Stevens Hospital, especially the ICU Team, for the outstanding care and respect given to Don and his family.
