Olympic Champion. He was a former Soviet/Russian handball player that competed in the 1976 Montreal summer Olympics in the men's team handball event and won the gold medal. He was also the silver medal winner in the World Championships in 1978 in Denmark. All together he played 173 matches during his playing career for the USSR National Team. In 1979 he became the coach for the Iran men's national handball team. In 1976 he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour for his deeds and services to the Soviet state.
