Obituary:

B. Dwain Vance, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008. He was born on May 7, 1932 in Cave City, Arkansas to William Huston and Eva D. (Bray) Vance. He married Barbara Gloff in Dallas, Texas on June 7, 1952. He received his Bachelor's Education from Texas Tech University and his Masters and PHD from the University of Missouri.
He taught in the Biology Department at the University of North Texas from 1963 to 1995. During those years he was active in the community, serving terms on the Board of the Denton Christian Preschool and as a member of the Nelson Center Golf Tournament committee. He was a member of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis and served on the Denton Independent School District Board of Trustees from 1980 to1983. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving in numerous capacities.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Valerie Lucke and her husband Mark of Richardson; his son Michael and wife Ladine of Denton; his daughter Michelle Ackerman and her husband David of Corinth; and his daughter Melissa Vance of Ft. Worth. He is also survived by grandchildren Jonathan Lucke and wife Blythe of Athens; David Lucke of Dallas, Barbara Lucke of Austin, Weslee and Nicholas Vance of Denton and Abigail Ackerman of Corinth.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Mulkey Mason, Funeral Home. 705 N. Locust, Denton, Funeral at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 703 N. Elm, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Russell Tieken officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the B. Dwain Vance Scholarship for Science Teachers at UNT, P.O Box 311337, UNT College of Education, Denton, TX 76203, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
