Helen E. Mathis, 83, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 29, 2022 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE.
She was born December 19, 1938 in Council Bluffs, IA to Ben and Helen (Smead) Croghan.
Helen graduated from Wahoo High School.
Through the years, Helen owned and operated the Mead Café in Mead, NE, she worked at Western Electric and she worked as a CNA at the Saunders Care Center, at VNA, Med Aide, and an in-home Health Aide.
After Robert and Helen retired, they moved to Sedalia, MO.
Helen was a member of the Eagles Club #2971 and the VFW Auxiliary #4502.
Helen was an independent, strong woman who enjoyed drawing, painting, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her children, Rusty Mathis, Wayne (Cindy) Mathis and Jennifer Nitz; step-daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Phillips, Luwwana Mathis and Pam Mathis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Benny Croghan, Bernard Croghan, Dick Croghan and Karen Smith; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lawrence Mathis; parents; siblings, Bobby Hasch and William "Bill" Croghan.
