Mrs. Barker Dies After An Illness
An illness was fatal Monday to Mrs. Bertie Nora Barker, who died in a local hospital. She had lived in the county for 41 years and was the mother of two Duncan people and sister to another.
Funeral was held Wednesday afternoon in the Grantham Funeral home with V. A. Jones, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist church officiating. Burial was in the Velma cemetery.
Mrs. Barker was born July 25, 1884 in Middle Tennessee, and came to the Empire community in 1917 and to Duncan in 1922.
Survivors include the widower, Riley Barker; three sons, Austin A., and Raymond of Duncan, and Quinton of Spring Valley California; three brothers, Henry Rains of Duncan, Bryant Rains of Lawton, and Tommy Rains of Oregon.
Bearers were Willard Norton, Ernie Barrick, Wiley Lynn, Erwin Rowe, and Tom Henley.
