Dale Oley Hughes, 85, of Mineral Wells, WV, passed away October 20, 2022 at The Willows of Parkersburg.

He was born on January 14, 1937 in Slate Creek, WV, the son of the late Oley Everett and Elsie Mae Derenburger Hughes.

Dale retired from Elkem Metals where he had worked for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Dale is survived by his wife Clara L. Hughes, children Rise Buffington (John Brown, Sr.) of Parkersburg, Alan Hughes (Barbara) of Texas, five grandchildren Michael, John, Gary, Jennifer, Lacey, eleven great grandchildren, sister Daisy Owens of Coolville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Clinton Buffington and three brothers Charles, Floyd and Paul Hughes.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Belpre.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 on Thursday and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
