Liberty
Fred Harry Vaughn of Liberty died Friday night in Mercy Hospital at Independence, where he had been admitted March 5.
He was 81. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Vaughn was born on April 15, 1892, at Cherokee, the son of Arthur Charles and Theresa Catherine (Kelly) Vaughn. He married Jean Nevins on Feb. 19, 1916 at Weir, KS.
A veteran of World War I, he worked in the coal mines until 1925, when he was employed by National Refinery. He retired in 1957. Mrs Vaughn died in 1969.
He was a member of the Coffeyville American Legion.
Survivors include a son, Arthur A. of Huntsville, Al; a daughter, Daisy E. Stewart of Liberty; a sister Mary Williams of Hawthorne, CA; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
