Bernard F. (Bernie) Burrhus, 70, Edinburgh, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, retired bus driver, died March 29, at a Harlingen, Texas, hospital after a six-month illness. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. The Rev. David A. Wendel of Crescent Park United Methodist Church will officiate. The body was cremated in Texas. Mr. Burrhus was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Bayard, Iowa. He married Martha (Tootie) Sanford May 8, 1953, in Sioux City. He was a longtime Sioux City resident and had in recent years been spending the winter in Edinburgh, Texas, and the summers at Estelline, S. D. He had been a bus driver for the SMB Stage Lines for 29 years. Mr. Burrhus was a member of the VFW and American Legion at Estelline. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Thompson of Mt. Morris, Pa. and Dane Roberts of Omaha; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Howard (Shirley) Barrows of Sioux City; four granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
