She was born in Gilmer, Texas and she graduated from Gladewater High School in 1962.
She received her degree from Texas Eastern School of Nursing on September 3, 1965.
For over 40 years, one of Barbara's passions was nursing and she served the community of Denton at Flow Hospital, Westgate Hospital and Denton Regional Medical Center, among others.
The majority of her career as a Registered Nurse was spent caring for individuals in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening and dancing.
A few years ago, she joined the First United Methodist Church "Trippers" group and made some lasting memories visiting Australia and New Zealand.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Marlatt of Crossroads, brother Robert (Emily) Carrington of Rockwall, sister Linda Carrington of Gladewater,
sister Karen (Randy) Fitzgerald of Bullard and brother Richard (Vicki) Carrington of Longview.
Ms. Marlatt is preceded in death by her son, Mark Leal Marlatt, her brother "RL" Carrington, Jr., and her parents Ruel Lemoine and Pauline Jenelle Carrington.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 11:00am in the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home Chapel.
