Alta Jean (Pugh) Allen, 91, of Cissna Park, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Heritage Health in Hoopeston, Illinois.

She was born on December 30, 1930, in Indiana, the daughter of Floyd and Rachel (Stuart) Pugh. She married Charles A. Allen at Antioch Church of Christ, Rossville, Illinois on June 30, 1957, and he preceded her in death on 3/16/2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Juanita Peterson.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Dennis) Mann of Monmouth and Lisa (Brad) Breymeyer of Cissna Park; five grandchildren, Jacob (Beth) Mann, Bolivar, Missouri, Erin (Kevin) Chankin, Chicago, Brice (Heidi) Breymeyer, Onarga, Brandt (Brielle) Breymeyer, Milford and Brooks (Josey) Breymeyer, Cissna Park; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Mann, Keighan Mann, Madison Chankin, Mason Chankin, and Braxton Breymeyer, Bree Breymeyer, Briggs Breymeyer and Brittlyn Breymeyer. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their extended families, and many lifelong friends.

Mrs. Allen was a registered nurse who served her patients with love and compassion. Alta was known for her wonderful meals, and great love of her family and friends, especially her husband.

She was a member of the Goodwine United Methodist Church until it's closure, and then joined the Milford United Methodist Church. She loved bowling, playing cards, but mostly spending time with her friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was active in the Cissna Park American Legion Auxiliary, church and school programs, an election judge and worked at many Bloodmobiles.

Burial will be at Amity Cemetery in Goodwine.
