Dorothy Evelyn MacAdam was born on October 21, 1930 in Spring Valley, New York to William and Evelyn Gallagher. On October 21, 2022, she was called home. Dorothy was a longtime resident of Hillburn, NY where she raised her seven children: Steven MacAdam (Maureen), Penny Duffy (James), Thomas MacAdam, Eric MacAdam (predeceased), and Robin Miele (Gregg) with James I. MacAdam (predeceased); and Patricia Coatti (Steven) and Nancy VanDunk (Craig) with John T. Garulli (predeceased). She is survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Dorothy, known as "Dot" to her friends and family, was a member of the Hillburn Ladies Auxiliary, loved animals, and was an avid birdwatcher. She was very creative and always took pleasure in decorating. She had a great sense of humor, was always a good sport when her children made her the brunt of many jokes and relentless teasing, and could also give as good as she got. She was genuine, unpretentious and lived her life on her own terms, never passing judgement on others. Services will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 Suffern, NY. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 26th, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, followed by burial at Airmont Coptic Orthodox Cemetery (formerly Airmont Lutheran Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hi-Tor Animal Shelter.
