Olympic Champion. He was a Danish weightlifter who competed in the inaugural 1896 Olympics that were held in Athens, Greece. The first weightlifting event held was the two-handed lift, in which he competed and won the gold medal. He also competed in the one-hand lift and won the silver medal. He also entered the shot put and finished fourth, and the discus throw, placing sixth. He also entered the rope climbing event, which he did not finish, and two rifle events, finishing third in the free rifle where he won a bronze and placing sixth in the military rifle event. He was the first Danish and Nordic of the 1896 Olympics.
