Wilma O. (Voiles) Ambrister, also known as Mamaw, 90 died surrounded by her family on July 26, 2022 at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center. Wilma was born in Greenwood, Kentucky on June 7, 1932 to John and Mabel (Miller) Voiles. Wilma grew up in Greenwood and attended high school in Whitley City, Kentucky. Years later she received a diploma in interior decorating. She traveled throughout the United States including Hawaii, both for pleasure and necessity as the devoted mother of a military family. She finally settled in New Hampshire near her children forty-four years ago. Wilma also enjoyed international travel, visiting Wales, England, France and Nova Scotia. She was a contributor to the Southern Baptist Church, St. Joseph Indian School and the Disabled American Veterans.

She pursued several careers including stints at a pharmaceutical company, child care facility, clothing store and candy factory. Her favorite activities included sailing, visiting Ogunquit Beach and Marginal way. She loved dining at Barnacle Billy's and celebrating Christmas by the Sea with family. She also loved the Boston Flower show, tea parties, holiday feasts and Christmas trees. Wilma was an avid New England Patriots fan.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, James W. Ambrister in 1975 who retired from the Air Force after over 20 years of service. She was also predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Ambrister and two siblings, John William Ambrister and Willa Jo Morrow.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Private burial will be in Kentucky.
