Lola May Chalker Gantt, 94 of Morganton, NC passed away, Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Born on December 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Marie W. Schmidt Chalker.

Lola was a faithful, longtime member of Calvary Lutheran, where she loved her church family dearly. She worked with her late husband as a taxidermist. She enjoyed traveling to Virginia. Lola had a love for animals, especially her dog "Brown Eyes."

Lola is survived by her children, Gerry Gantt (Wee Boonmak), Charles Gantt (Vicki Salveson), Jeff Gantt (Mary), Kathy Leonhardt (Derr), Kathleen Curtis (Dionne), Kevin Gantt (Nora); 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, JC Gantt; sisters, Hattie Lucker, Marie Schlessner, Marguerite Unrein; brother, Gilbert Chalker.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6pm, Friday, October 28, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1pm, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
