Donald R Crane age 93, of Red Bank, TN went to be with the Lord Sunday October 16, 2022, while residing at a Life Care Centers of Red Bank. Surrounded by family and friends.

Don was a 1948 graduate of Red Bank High School where he was a member of the color guard in the high school band. He served in the Army's 101 Airborne unit stationed in Savannah, Georgia during the war. Don went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in art from the University of Chattanooga and then his Master's degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he used his art skills as a teacher of art at City High School, Howard High School and Rossville High School. He also was instrumental in the design of the art department at Ridgeland High School before retiring after 35 years of teaching. Don enjoyed singing with various choirs and operas over his lifetime, to include, the Red Bank Baptist Adult Choir and the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. In his spare time, he lent his voice to characters in Fred Arnold's Puppet Shows. He was also known for his scenery and backdrop building skills which were used for the Tivoli Theater, Red Bank Baptist Church productions, Red Bank High School and Rossville High School. As an artist he displayed and sold his artwork at the Plum Nelly Festival on Lookout Mountain. Don enjoyed playing Santa at Northgate Mall.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jane B Crane, daughter, Alyse Crane of Winter Haven, Florida and parents Roy and Lillian Crane of Chattanooga, brother Gene Crane of Hendersonville, TN.

Don was survived by son Brad Crane (Lisa) of Ringgold, Georgia, daughter Laura Crane of Chattanooga grandson Brandon Crane of Suwanee, Georgia, daughter Stephanie Fredette of Winter Haven, Florida.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, October 21, 2022 at Lane Funeral Home.
