Polly Ann Jewell was born December 20, 1944 at Clinch Valley Hospital. She passed away October 25, 2022 at the age of 77, following a 12-year battle with the very rare Appendix PMP cancer. She was the daughter of the late Artemus Bernard "A.B. Buck" Jewell and Lily Bevins Jewell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Victor Jewell; sister, Luanne Pugh; and son, Bryan Scott Rowe.

A lifelong resident of Whitewood and Richlands, Polly was a 1963 graduate of Richlands High School and a 1971 graduate of East Tennessee State University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught 27 years for Tazewell County Public Schools making many friendships with teaching colleagues and former students.

Upon retirement, she served as Secretary/Treasurer of Buck Jewell Resources, LLC, the family's coal and gas business. She enjoyed jewelry, especially gemstones and her friendship with Mike Abel of J&R Gold. She was of the Messianic Jewish faith and virtually attended Zion Sake Ministries in Bristol, VA. Polly and the Jewell family extend thanks Dr. Nita Ahuja of the Yale School of Medicine and Dr. Brenda (Smith) Nettles of Johns Hopkins hospital.

She is survived by her sister Nancy Lee Jewell Lowe and husband Wilmer Wade Lowe, Jr. of Cedar Bluff, VA, sister Bucky Jean Jewell McConnell of Tazewell, VA (and sons Adam and Luke), sister Jan Loretta Kear of Chillicothe, OH, and brother Artemus Bernard Jewell, Jr. of Columbia Falls, ME (and son Matthew and daughters Elspeth and Catherine). One son, Dr. Cyrus Bernard Nasseri and wife Deborah Ann Nasseri of Falls Church, VA. Grandchildren include Tobias Bernard Nasseri of Falls Church and Josh Shawn Rowe of Swords Creek, VA. Great grandchildren include Aubree Summer Rowe of Swords Creek, VA and Cadynn Shawn Rowe of Richlands, VA. Her life partner was Ronnie Bentley Mallory of Richlands, VA. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members reside throughout Southwestern Virginia and beyond.

A private Celebration of Life for the immediate family only will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Polly will be laid to rest at Greenhills Memory Gardens on Monday, October 31, 2022.
